On October 13 we will host two Build Zone events in the historic Roslindale substation. In the morning, bring your family to our popular Build Zone event for children from 9:00 through noon. Then come back that night from 6:00 through 10:00 for a 21+ version of Build Zone featuring beer from Turtle Swamp Brewing. Admission for the evening event will be $10 per person with beer available for purchase. Advance tickets are available at EventBrite, or pay on the day of the event (cash only, please). Proceeds from the event will support future community play events in Roslindale.
About Build Zone
Build Zone is Roslindale Wants to Play’s popular collaborative ball run event. Our first Build Zone was held in March, 2017; building on that success, we expanded the event to the Roslindale Substation this past spring. We provide custom-built conveyor belts, cardboard and plastic tubes, duct tape, and various adjustable supports and other contraptions. Then we add hundreds of colorful balls and let the event participants take it from there. The result is a celebration of imagination, community, and fun.
Build Zone: Grown-up Edition
While our previous Build Zones were envisioned as children’s events, we couldn’t help but notice how many adults joined in the fun. Following the substation’s successful run as a beer hall last winter, we realized that we had a perfect venue for Roslindale Wants to Play’s first play event for adults. When we reached out to Turtle Swamp Brewing they thought it was a great idea, too. The result is the return of a beer hall to the substation, this time with a unique and fun event built right in.
